Years ago I grew lemon balm from seed & had pots & pots of it. Would never have been able use all of it in a million years!!1 :lol2: It did smell wonderful & it makes a pleasant tasting & healthy tea, if I recollect.

Your lemon balm & parsley plants look terrific, Dawn. Very happy where they are, I should imagine.

Doubt they will mind in the slightest, Dawn. Just looked up a small companion planting chart I have & it said that lemon balm attracts bees (good) & improves the growth & flavour of tomatoes. :bravo:

Think I might make up a companion planting thing & make it a sticky for this forum. We can add to it as we find more info.

Thanks for that piece of information Joy, that's great as I want to plant more tomato's in that box when the beetroot and carrots are finished. We eat an enormous amount of tomatos. I am pleased to know that the beetroot grew well and quite quick, without much fuss or disease. This year is a test as to what I do next year. Even though they are quite big boxes there is not that much space in there and once harvested beetroot and carrots don't go on and on like spinach does.

A companion planting chart would be fantastic, a very useful and good thing to have. I know I will enjoy one. That would be really great Thanx I look forward to it!

The companion planting thingy is in place, Dawn. :) Have made it a Sticky for this forum at the top of the page. It is just a start but there may be some stuff which could be useful.

That is the problem with root vegetables, once they are out of the ground then they are no more. Guess there is only one thing to do. Plant more.

Mind you seeing as I am going to be away soon I can't see the family stress over the watering so better plant something that will withstand a bit of neglect.

Something like thyme , I guess, Dawn. Cannot think of a veggie that can look after itself. :??: But then again, I have never grown veggies. :lol2:
